Botswana Safaris
A safari in Botswana offers a true experience of the wild. We visit a number of areas in this beautiful country, it’s a great place to visit if you want to see hippos, crocodiles, big cats and elephants in their natural environment. It’s also a birdwatcher’s paradise thanks to permanent rivers and rambling floodplains.
A wholesome and beautiful safari destination
From the vast Okavango Delta to the wilderness of the Tuli Block and the beauty of the Moremi Game Reserve, we visit some incredible places on Botswana Safaris. Thriving with wildlife and stunning safari camps, our private guides will take you on a journey of discovery with experiences that will last a lifetime.
The camps and lodges we visit while on safari in Botswana will provide spiritual and luxury elegance. During the day you’ll head out into the wild to reconnect with nature led by experienced private safari guides Graham Cooke and Steve Mortimer who have over 75 combined years of experience tracking and looking for animals. We’re incredibly lucky to have Graham on our team, one of the best private safari guides in the industry. His story of hand rearing two leopard cubs and releasing them into the wild is told in the now popular book – “my life with leopards”.
On safari with us in Botswana you’ll have exclusive access to Graham and his knowledge from over 30 years in the bush, observing first-hand his passion for anything wild and natural.
We recommend that guests allow a minimum of three days to truly explore this magnificent area that’s also home to some of the best safari lodges in Botswana

Below you’ll discover more about the places we visit in Botswana on Safari:
Okavango Delta
A birdwatcher’s paradise, Botswana’s Okavango Delta is a year-round safari destination that will take your breath away. The Okavango Delta is a sprawling expanse of grassy plains that flood between June and October when the rain stops. It’s during this period that animals from far and wide flock to the Delta creating a perfect viewing theatre.
Moremi Game Reserve
The best time to visit the Moremi Game Reserve is the dry season between June and October when the floodwaters arrive and animals flock to this amazing oasis. Moremi is home to cheetah, white rhino, African wild dog and lion.
This beautiful reserve is also home to more than 500 bird species and over 1,000 plant varieties making it a birdwatches haven.

"Botswana 4 x 4 safari"
“I recently travelled in 4x4s around Botswana with Wild Insight Safaris and it was absolutely amazing. Steve and Graham went above and beyond to ensure everything went well and we were treated to some incredible wildlife sightings. Their ability to navigate the somewhat confusing road system and track animals was second to none. Would highly recommend a safari with them.”

Chobe
The Chobe National Park, Botswana’s third largest park is an elephant lover’s paradise. Home to huge numbers of this magnificent mammal and incredible birdlife, experiencing a Botswana safari in Chobe is a must. The best time of year to visit Chobe is between May and November -the dry season is in full swing and game viewing is spectacular. We recommend spending at least two days in this fantastic area and its vicinity to Victoria Falls makes it a perfect addition to a varied safari trip.
Makadikadi
Sleep out under the stars in the Makadikadi Basin. Located in north-eastern Botswana, it is one of the largest salt flats in the world. Translated, Makadikadi means vast, lifeless land but at certain times of year, this area is far from lifeless. Between January and May, this unique landscape, an ancient lake that covered the area millions of years ago, provides a stunning theatre to view migrating herds passing through.

Central Kalahari
Botswana’s largest park, it’s no surprise to hear that the Central Kalahari Game Reserve covers a huge area in central Botswana. A great place for families, you’ll see giraffes, cheetahs, hyenas and wild dogs to name a few of the animals that can be found in the grassland. Dirt tracks wind through fossilized river valleys and accommodation ranges from basic campsites to luxury private lodges. We know the best places to stay and our experience private guides will expertly track and look for wildlife to make this a memorable trip.
Victoria falls
It’s very easy to visit the magnificent Victoria Falls from Botswana. We often combine visits to the Falls with a Tiger Fishing experience on the Zambezi River. There are a number of activities on the river that make a family-safari trip more memorable such as white-water rafting, abseiling the gorge or a river cruise.

Tuli Block
Lying in a narrow segment of land on Botswana’s eastern border, you’ll find the stunning Tuli Block. An abundance of animals thrive in this reserve which was also a frontier in the Boer War making it a fascinating area to visit. Tuli Block lodges will provide a serene base to explore this diverse landscape with a diverse history.
Tuli Block’s location means we often combine it with South Africa and Zimbabwe safaris.
Khwai
Khwai sits on the north-western boundary of the Moremi Game Reserve and is home to an incredible community of people who live in harmony with wildlife. It is an actively managed conservation area run by the local community that operates ecotourism and actively conserve the environment and manage the wildlife that roams there. The banks of the Khwai River provide spectacular viewing – elephant, hippo, buffalo, zebra, lion, leopard, cheetah and giraffe are just some of the wildlife that frequent the banks.

Savuti
Savuti sits on the eastern flank of the Chobe National Park and is one of Africa’s best-known areas for big game viewing. The Savuti is famous for its predators – you’ll find resident lion and spotted hyena populations in the Savuti as well as nearly all the major species you’d expect to see on safari in Botswana.
Safari Accommodation
We offer various accommodation options for safari guests, and all options can be blended. No matter which route or routes you take, you’ll be sure to feel at home with African nature.
