Namibia safaris
Namibia is a great safari location, and a beautiful coastline creates varied holidays perfect for honeymoon hideaways or action-packed family adventures. Bordering safari heavyweights South Africa, Zambia and Botswana, Namibia is often left out of safari conversations, but this westerly African country has a lot to offer.
Home to safaris for every type of traveler
Often combined with safaris in Botswana, in Namibia we marvel at the Sossusvlei Dunes, hear stories of shipwrecks on the Skeleton Coast and visit a salt pan that’s so vast it can be seen from space.
We have handpicked camps and lodges to stay at when on safari in Namibia. During the day you’ll head out into the wild to reconnect with nature led by experienced private safari guides Graham Cooke and Steve Mortimer who have over 75 combined years of experience tracking and looking for animals. And at night we’ll gather round the campfire to reflect on our day in the bush and share stories of the wild.
Larger than France, long distances separate key destinations, after many years of visiting Namibia, we have created a shortlist for the must visit destinations.

Below you’ll discover more about the places we visit in Namibia on Safari:
Namib Desert
One of the dryest places on earth, the Namib Desert has been dry for at least 55 million years. It’s pressed against a desert stretch of coast and is often thought of as one of the world’s most beautiful deserts. Experiencing around 180 days of fog every year the Namib Desert has an incredible ability to make you feel like you’ve landed on another planet. Desert adapted lions, Black Rhino and Damaraland Elephants can be seen among huge sand dunes and 1,000 year old plants called Welwitschia.
Sossusvlei Dunes
The most famous dunes in Namibia and a must-visit when on safari. The Sossusvlei Dunes provide incredible photography opportunities, especially at sunrise and sunset. Dune 45 is one of the most photographed dunes in the world. A visit to Sossusvlei is not complete without seeing the Sesriem Canyon, Hiddenvlei or the Deadvlei. The dry desert conditions have not succeeded in creating a wildlife free zone and as mentioned above, a variety of plants and animals are thriving here creating a truly memorable safari experience.

Walvis Bay
Walvis Bay provides a great mix of city and wildlife. A perfect base to explore the surrounding areas and desert treats, it’s well placed halfway along the Namibian coastline. Home to varied birdlife including flamingoes, pelican and Damara Terns it should firmly be on a bird watchers list when visiting Namibia.
Swakopmund
Another Namibian coastal city well worth visiting is Swakopmund. Established by German colonists in 1892, the city boasts a unique blend of European and African culture. It’s a good base for exploring in-land on desert safaris and experiencing everything Namibia has to offer.

Etosha national Park
Found in north-western Namibia, 25% of Etosha National Park is a vast salt pan that can be seen from space. Far from a lifeless wilderness, Etosha is home to a whole heap of wildlife. Four of the Big Five can be seen here (elephant, lion, leopard and rhino) in a unique and mesmerizing landscape. Etosha is one of the largest national parks in the whole of Africa. Our private safari guides know the best areas to visit to guarantee game viewing.
Skeleton Coast
This 500 km stretch of coastline has a fascinating history. The unpredictable current of the Atlantic Ocean clashes with the dunes and desert landscape of Namibia. It’s known as Skeleton Coast due to the huge numbers of stranded whales who died here and whose skeletons can be seen littered along the coastline. Shipwrecks can also be seen here, thrown ashore thanks to thick fog, rough seas, strong currents and stormy winds. It’s not all shipwrecks and bones however, elephant, rhino, desert lions and giraffes are just a few of the animals that can be seen here.
