Wild Insight Safaris

Below you’ll discover more about the places we visit on a South African Safari:

Umfula Game Reserve

Set along the banks of the Olifants river, Umfula Game Reserve is a short drive away from Mpfuvu Manor. It is part of an area that includes the Balule Game Reserve. With a huge variety of fauna and flora, the rolling landscape is home to a number of game species. Hippos, Leopards, and civets are just some of the wildlife that can regularly be spotted at Umfula.

Pridelands

As far as South Africa Safari locations go, the peaceful Pridelands has it all. Just a stone’s throw from Mpfuvu Manor, the Greater Kruger reaches out towards the Lowveld Pridelands. A place where wildlife roams freely and the sun sets over the mountains. Leopards, lions, cheetahs and hyenas feel safe enough to have cubs here and wild dogs have made it their home.

"An unfortgettable experience"

“We have just returned from a week-long safari in South Africa with the Wild Insight Safari Company. Wow! What a truly unforgettable experience!
Graham and Steve organised and hosted our holiday which took us to 3 separate, truly stunning, destinations. Their attention to detail in the planning and execution was second to none from the day of booking and pre holiday information pack through to the travel, accommodation, food and fabulous game sightings out in the bush.”

Greater Kruger and Kruger Park

Greater Kruger and Kruger Park sit in the northeastern corner of South Africa and are accessible as a day trip from Mpfuvu Manor. Greater Kruger is made up of a group of private game reserves that are part of an unfenced area adjacent to Kruger Park. Kruger Park is a state-owned national park and along with Greater Kruger, they are great safari locations thanks to abundant wildlife. Both areas can be explored from Mpfuvu Manor in a vehicle, a walking bush tour or from the air in a hot air balloon. We are ideally located to enter through the north gate (Phalaborwa), explore the park and exit through the southern gate (Orpen).

Manyeleti Game Reserve

Sharing a fenceless border with Kruger National Park and sandwiched between Sabi Sand and Timbavati is the Manyeleti Game Reserve. Considered a hidden gem, Manyeleti means “place of the stars”, in the local Shangaan language and as a game reserve it’s known for an open savanna, dense riverine vegetation and the Big 5.

This 200km park provides a great safari experience and will leave a lasting impression. Manyeleti is easy to access from Mpfuvu Manor and is well known for predator and elephant sightings.

Further afield on South African Safari

We have hand-picked safari lodges further afield to help us explore this magnificent country, below are just some of the areas we visit regularly on our South African safaris.

Timbavati

53,000 hectares of unspoilt wilderness await you at Timbavati. There are no fences between Timbavati and Kruger National Park, making this is a great place to view the “Big Five” as the wildlife roams freely in a huge natural environment. Timbavati offers the ultimate photographic safari experience and over 300 bird species live here. You’ll be certain to return home with some stunning photographs and memories from your trip.

Machaton Private Camp is our lodge of choice when we visit Timbavati. Eco-conscious, authentic and oozing spiritual luxury, Machaton is in the heart of the bush meaning your game viewing continues even when you’re in bed.

Sabi Sands

The most famous private Game Reserve of them all, the possibilities for game viewing at Sabi Sands are unparalleled – the “Big Five” included. Known for leopard sightings, the elusive animal is frequently spotted on game drives through the reserve. Much like Timbavati, Sabi Sands offers an epic photographic safari experience. Sabi Sands could well be the best South African safari destination for wildlife enthusiasts, photographers and birdwatchers alike with over 300 bird species calling Sabi Sands home.

When we visit Sabi Sands we stay at Jaci’s Sabi House – an exclusive-use safari villa in the Sabi Sand Reserve. From Jaci’s Sabi house, you can enjoy a morning game drive with Graham, relaxation time while the wildlife wander by, a sunset game drive followed by an evening enjoying drinks around the campfire.

We offer various accommodation options for safari guests, and all options can be blended. No matter which route or routes you take, you’ll be sure to feel at home with African nature. We specialise in private group trips to provide a personal, private and undisturbed experience. From Bush Camps and 4 x 4 trips to private or shared luxury lodges.
